Moan and Low

starlings
slice dull low sky

hackberries
gather at someone’s fence

winter pansies
lean in to listen

cement steps
catch my knees

Ann’s arm
“I’ve never seen you like this”

I bet
you’ll never catch me crying

starlings
what have I gone and done

Jax blows
a kiss from a truck window

catches me crying
what have I gone and done
